Lots of history and beautiful nature in one day….all that with the use of train.
Come and discover rich history of medieval town of Tabor, loose yourself in labyrinth of medieval streets, and enjoy a hike in peaceful nature.
Detail information
The history of Tabor is very rich: it was established in the 15th century as a fortress during the Hussite revolution. It was named after a biblical mount of Tabor in Israel, and was meant to be a commonwealth governed only by law of God. We will learn all about this fascinating history in local Gothic Town Hall, which is a museum of this 15th century revolutionary movement, and we will also visit the famous Tabor catacombs from 16th century.
Highlight of the trip is a hike up along the Stations of the Cross to a famous pilgrimage site, breath taking Baroque Klokoty Monastery. Next is a hike through peaceful pine forest down to the valley of river Luznice, and lunch in a local restaurant on the river bank.
This trip will show you the true countryside of the Czech Republic. Even though Tabor is a beautiful town with fascination history, it is not a major spot for international tourists yet.
You will see life of local people and eat true local food. The train ride (1hour 15min one way) makes the trip to be even more authentic.
